Cone mills are mainly used as lump breakers or calibrators for dry or wet substances with inhomogeneous granulometric distribution.
The ease of disassembly and cleaning operations, as well as the accuracy in the choice of construction materials and finishes, making these mills particularly suitable for use in the Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Food and Cosmetic sectors.
Nuova Guseo cone mills are also designed and manufactured in strict compliance with EC regulations and current Good Manufacturing Practices.
Operating principle

The operating principle is simple and effective: The product, once fed into the grinding chamber, is pressed against the surface of the calibration screen by means of an impeller, upon reaching the dimensions imposed by the screen itself, the product is discharged , simply by gravity, into the container below.
Characteristic elements of this type of mills are the delicate grinding action (low heat development) and the conical shape of the calibration screen which allows a quick and total discharge of the particles of the treated product.

In the pharmaceutical field, the use of highly active ingredients (HPAPI - Highly Potent Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) is constantly increasing, manufacturers are constantly looking for ways to treat HPAPIs safely and efficiently. With our equipment we do not limit ourselves to ensuring reliability and high performance in the handling of these substances, we have developed a solution to ensure their execution in total safety, by installing the system inside an isolator.
Multi-mill station with interchangeable head; "switchtasking" configuration
The "switchtasking" multi-mill station allows the execution of calibration and grinding activities using integrated technologies within a single system.
The prerogative of this configuration is to alternatively allow the quickly and easily interchange of the head of the conical mill with that of the hammer mill, depending on the process requirements.
This application is ideal for R&D and pilot scale activities and can also be installed within a high containment isolator;

Nuova Guseo offers a design that allows to contain the “switchtasking” technology (i.e. the possibility to alternatively, easily and safely interchange the head of the conical mill with that of the hammer mill) inside an isolator.
The motor unit and the relative controls are installed externally, therefore the process activities and the cleaning operations, thanks to the easy removal of the mill head from the rest of the body, are carried out inside the isolator, using gloves or a half-suit. , reducing any risk of exposure for the operator.
